Esperanza

Esperanza is a community residence providing temporary housing, short term case management and substance abuse services to men. The average length of stay is between 6 to 9 months. During this time these men develop a more positive sense of self-worth while improving their mental health, independent living skills and sobriety. Additionally, Esperanza staff assists residents in finding affordable, permanent housing.

People Served-Men Only

  • Must have a chemical abuse problem requiring treatment services.
  • Must be homeless and unemployed at the time of admission.
  • Must actively participate in an out-patient substance abuse treatment program for the duration of their residency.
  • Those with a co-occurring mental illness and chemical addiction (mica) are welcome, provided their mental health is stabilized. However, Esperanza cannot accept individuals who need acute hospital care, acute psychiatric care or other intensive services.
  • Appears to be free of serious communicable disease that can be transmitted through ordinary contact.
  • Must have demonstrated an ability to participate in, or comply with, substance abuse treatment outside of a twenty-four hour setting, as indicated by a recent and successful attempt at abstinence, prior treatment episodes, and/or substantial functional skills that demonstrate ability to achieve recovery in an independent setting.
