Court Advocate

Location: Manhattan or Bronx-based
   
Duties:

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, conducts screenings, assessments and referrals for clients.

   
Responsibilities:
  1. Key participant in outreach in courts.
  2. Identifies key community resources.
  3. Advocates for clients at court appearances to assist with continuum of treatment based on clinical recommendations.
  4. Acts as the primary mediator between the criminal justice system, the treatment program and the client.
  5. Provides escort services for clients.
  6. Communicates daily with Program Directors at 3 different sites.
  7. Maintains outreach logs, documents the number of client screenings, and the number of clients referred to each program.
  8. Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s or Associates degree and/or a CASAC/CASAC-T.  Minimum of two (2) years experience in outreach work with ATI population.  Knowledge of court and criminal justice system.  Knowledge of community and community life experiences of alternatives to incarceration.  Familiar with community resources. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
